Theme: “Safety Takes Many Forms”
DUE: October 6th, 2016
This is not mandatory and is a project completed at home. Drawings may not exceed 18 inches by 12 inches (including a mat if using). You may use regular paper, art paper, or poster board. The drawing mediums include pencil, crayon, colored pencil, and markers. All entries must be the original design and artwork of an individual student. A single entry done by two or more students is not permitted. The theme must be carried out in the drawing. Parents or others must not assist a student. Copyrighted material may not be used. Lettering should be done by hand and should be neat and simple, with a minimum of words. Do not use stencils, magazine clippings or any kind of machine cutouts. Only original artwork is accepted.
**NUMBER ONE RULE- Write your child’s name ON THE BACK of the drawing NOT ON FRONT**

MY LOUISIANA ESSAY
Theme: “Mardi Gras Mambo”
DUE: October 21st, 2016
The essay title will be “Mardi Gras Mambo.” Resources should be listed on the entry form. Students are encouraged to contact their local Chamber of Commerce, Visitor and Convention Bureau, Historical Societies, City Hall, and public library for information concerning their area. Entries will be submitted on standard 8 ½” x 11” paper. Entries must be written by hand written or typed by the student. Students in the primary category may dictate to another person who may type or write their original work. These transcribers are not to alter in any manner their grammar or form of speech of the child. Handwritten entries are to be on one side of the paper, using additional sheets if necessary. Students are encouraged to keep a copy of their work. Entries will be returned to the district presidents. Student artwork will not affect judging. All participants are required to complete the official entry form. A parent or guardian also must sign the affirmation of originality and the permission clause. The essay will be accepted in a folder with pockets. Others must not assist the student in any way other than transportation during research. Each student must sign the affirmation sentence concerning originality.

Theme: “What is Your Story?”
DUE: October 28, 2016
All Fairfield students are encouraged to create and submit works of art in six areas: dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography, and the visual arts (which include art forms such as drawing, painting, print making, and collage). This is not mandatory and is a project completed at home with parent supervision; work must be 100% from the student. Only students who move on to the parish level will be required to fill out the student form found on the Caddo district PTA website. The PTA Contest committee will contact parents of winners.
